UP ON CRIPPLE CREEK The Band The Band (1970) When I get off of this mountain, you know where I want to go? Straight down the Mississippi river, to the Gulf of Mexico To Lake Charles, Louisiana, little Bessie, girl that I once knew She told me just to come on by, if there’s anything she could do Up on Cripple Creek she sends me If I spring a leak she mends me I don’t have to speak, she defends me A drunkard’s dream if I ever did see one Good luck had just stung me, to the race track I did go She bet on one horse to win and I bet on another to show The odds were in my favor, I had ‘em five to one When that nag to win came around the track, sure enough she had won Up on Cripple Creek she sends me If I spring a leak she mends me I don’t have to speak, she defends me A drunkard’s dream if I ever did see one I took up all of my winnings, and I gave my little Bessie half And she tore it up and threw it in my face, just for a laugh Now there’s one thing in the whole wide world, I sure would like to see That’s when that little love of mine, dips her doughnut in my tea Up on Cripple Creek she sends me If I spring a leak she mends me I don’t have to speak, she defends me A drunkard’s dream if I ever did see one Now me and my mate were back at the shack, we had Spike Jones on the box She said, “I can’t take the way he sings, but I love to hear him talk” Now that just gave my heart a throb, to the bottom of my feet And I swore and I took another pull, my Bessie can’t be beat Up on …

@KoreanMilkman2007 :Because they are thick as a brick
My youth great times!!!!!!!!
i don’t understand why people feel compelled to state their age on these videos. music is timeless and eternal (well good music is) so why does it matter how old you are?
They do make music like this these days – they call it Country Music.
It harks back to the days before the internet and cell phones. Heck, it harks back to the days before TV’s and cars! The photo could be from the late 1800′s. We’ve lost interest in looking back. Our music today is all about “keeping it real” or creating total fantasy. But listen to how cool this sounds with such a natural sound. Live drums, guitars, organ, bass, clear vocals, and of course – the mouth harp!
@squeak1964 This is the only music that I will listen to. I love classic rock, way better than this crap they call music today.
Step back in time to REAL music!
This song is my friend Lonnie
I’m sure this will take all my High School friends back..LOL!!
Fuckin’ Awesome..)d
@wizwow77 apparently you’ve never heard of fleet foxes, bon iver, grizzly bear, the black keys; no doubt there is alot of awful music that comes out, but there has always been good music and bad music……its just a matter of sifting through the shit and finding the gems
It is the one I remember years ago… It is great!!!!
